Tom has a 25+ year career as a CEO, President, Board member, Executive Chairman and Consultant for both Private Equity Firms, as well as Public and Private Companies. Tom’s experience transcends multiple industries including healthcare (physician/hospital management/ancillary services), clinical diagnostics, biotechnology, laboratory sciences, nutritional services and manufacturing. He has the reputation of being a visionary and transformational leader responsible for building companies organically and through mergers and acquisitions, developing management teams, creating sustainable, profitable companies – leading to significant shareholder value.
Tom is currently a Consultant through Milestone Business Management, LLC, a consulting firm he co-founded and continues with as a General Partner. Most recently, Tom has advised several companies in the healthcare space, and served as Interim CEO of Boston Heart Diagnostics. Tom is a former Operating Partner with Ampersand Capital Partners, a middle-market growth equity firm. For Ampersand, Tom initially served as a Board Member of Viracor-IBT Laboratories, Inc. before becoming President and CEO of the Company. He also served as President, CEO and Executive Chairman of Elite One Source Nutrisciences, Inc., and Interim CEO and Executive Chairman of Accuratus Lab Services, Inc. He was also instrumental in sourcing new opportunities, performing due diligence and assisting in fund-raising.
Prior to Viracor-IBT, Tom served as President and CEO of the Nebraska Heart Institute and Heart Hospital (NHI/NHH), which he sold to Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI), Inc. Subsequently, Tom spent two years responsible for managing, acquiring, integrating and consolidating physician and hospital services for CHI in Seattle-Tacoma. Tom initially joined NHI/NHH from Eurofins Scientific, Inc., where he served as President, CEO, Vice Chairman, and member of the Group Executive Committee. Previously Tom was President and CEO of start-up company, GenomicFX, Inc. Tom spent the prior 11 years advancing in positions with new challenges and responsibilities at ContiGroup Companies where he ultimately served as Vice President and General Manager of the Nutrition Division.
Tom holds B.S. and M.S. degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and a Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky. He is actively engaged in numerous philanthropic activities and is an avid Nebraska sports fan.
