Dr. Petrone has served as CEO & Chief Medical Physicist of Petrone Associates for more than 30 years. In this role, Tom provides comprehensive consulting services focused on the establishment and maintenance of fully compliant and accredited programs in radiation oncology, mammography, and radiology (C.T., MRI, US, NM, PET) at hospitals and various outpatient sites-of-service across the country. Petrone Associates’ services are built on an expansive expertise in all subdivisions of medical physics and related areas. As experts in the application of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation in diagnosis and treatment, the Company’s activities are designed for optimization of information content and the minimization of risk to patients and staff.
Prior to Petrone Associates, Tom served as the Chief Radiological Physicist at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Staten Island, New York. He was responsible for the coordination and performance of all physics safety and quality control functions in therapy and diagnosis, as well as equipment purchase specification and acceptance testing and was a member of management. In 1995, on the foundation of a growing consulting practice, Tom set out full time in private practice and has grown his organization into a national leader. His practice consists of highly educated and experienced physicists and technical support staff as well as solid executive and administrative teams.
Tom is a member of various professional organizations including: Health Physics Society, The American Association of Physicists in Medicine, The American College of Radiology, New Jersey Medical Physics Society and the Radiological and Medical Physics Society of New York. He is certified by the American Board of Radiology in both Diagnostic and Therapeutic Physics and the American Board of Medical Physics in Radiation Oncology Physics.
He is a frequent author and featured presenter on a broad range of radiation oncology, radiology, mammography, compliance, risk, new facility considerations, and other-related topics.
