    Dr. Jim A. Youssef is the Chief Advisor of Orthopedic & Musculoskeletal Provider Platforms.

    Dr. Youssef is a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon (retired June 2020) with extensive clinical and research experience. He specialized in minimally invasive spine surgery, complex spinal deformity and alternatives to bony fusion in spine surgery and has 12 published patents, with 8 resulting in commercially available implants. Dr. Youssef has been active in medical device product development, business development and teaching throughout his 25-year career.

    Dr. Youssef is the founder of Spine Colorado, a multidisciplinary facility which focuses on comprehensive treatment of spinal disorders by combining the latest in non-operative and operative techniques. In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Youssef led an active research department. He has participated in multiple IDE/FDA clinical trials and has published his research in over forty-seven peer-reviewed publications and twelve book chapters.

    Dr. Youssef has co-founded several companies including Syndicom, a collaborative software company that provided a learning platform and community for spine health care providers (which was subsequently sold to the North American Spine Society) and the Belize Spine Foundation which provides spine surgery to the citizens of Belize and surrounding countries. He also co-founded innovative initiatives including Resources for Medical Education and Collaboration, a non-profit organization that provides biologics research initiatives to identify new technologies for use in spine surgery. He actively invests in early stage medical device startup companies and co-founded the Incas Venture Fund which selected seven companies that led to IPO or acquisitions.

    Dr. Youssef serves as a board member for SurgioHealth, a healthcare IT startup that provides cost efficiency and improved utilization of surgical instruments to hospitals. He also co-founded the Evidence & Technology Spine Summit, a continuing medical education conference attended by spine surgeons from around the world.

    Dr. Youssef graduated with a BS in Genetics from the University of California at Berkeley and received his MD at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine.  He is a member of multiple surgical research societies and frequently speaks at conferences on spine health care across the United States and internationally.  He teaches spine surgery techniques worldwide.
